Although cleaning your freezer might not be part of your daily routine, but occasionally it deserves your time. Here are a few steps that are useful while cleaning chest freezers.

Step 1
Unplug the unit or switch your freezer off and wear your rubber gloves for safety and hygiene purpose. For chest freezers, the defrosting process is the best way. However, if you want to speed up the process, you can place a bowl of hot water inside the freezer.

Step 2
Empty the ice cubes into the cooler and set aside the trays to be washed. Unload everything that you have dumped into the freezer. Since freezers are used to store food items for an extended period, there might be a few elements that have exceeded their expiry dates, and in all probability, you have forgotten about it. So examine all the items thoroughly post unloading. If you have an upright freezer, remove all detachable shelves and set them aside in a sink.

Step 3
Prepare a solution of hot water and vinegar or hot water and baking soda to clean the internal area of a freezer. Ensure you do not use a detergent. Dry it with a sponge, dishcloth, or towel. You can also use a toothbrush to remove the stains. You should wipe the inside of the freezer thoroughly. You can clean the body of the freezer, the door, and the surrounding with the same solution.

Step 4
Replace the shelves, drawers after they are completely dry and store the food items back into the freezer.
